What We Aim For
This site should work for every visitor, whether they listen with a screen reader, get around by keyboard alone or depend on another assistive tool. Our target is conformance with WCAG 2.1, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, at Level AA.
What That Looks Like
Pages are plain HTML, and headings follow a logical order. Our colors keep text easy to read against its background. Each image carries a text description of what's in it.
Form fields all have labels, and no form depends on JavaScript to work. Color is never the only signal for anything. You can reach every link and button with the Tab key.
Keeping It Up
This isn't a one-time job. New pages are checked against the same standard before they go up. Tell us when the site and your tools don't get along, and we'll work on it.
Tell Us About a Problem
If you can't use part of a page, call (940) 535-7201 or write to us through the contact page. Tell us which page it was and what went wrong. Let us know which assistive tool you use, if any. We'll work to fix it quickly.
Sites We Link To
Our pages point to town and city sites, water providers, the USDA soil survey, FEMA's flood maps, the Corps of Engineers and other public records. Their accessibility is in their own hands.
Get a Free Foundation Inspection
Tell us what you've seen, and we'll pass it to a local professional who can come out and look. They'll explain what they find and what your options are. The visit is free, and you're not signing up for anything.
